Audisne Ruinam // a unique feline roleplay « Result #4 on Jun 11, 2009, 11:55am »
China has a feline problem - many feral or stray cats wander the streets in, like every other city, very filthy conditions. So, the Chinese government, with approval from the United States and a portion of Canada, has been allowed to take 20 percent of their domestic cat population off the streets, and move them to shelters on the West Coast. Now, anyone can tell by reading this that, because of overcrowding in shelters today, animal shelters will be worse in the future. These cats are doomed to wander the streets again.
But, perhaps that is not the way the story ends. You see, that cargo ship transporting those felines to the Americas ran into some rough weather near an unknown archipelago (which is very rare these days). Of the 1000 crates, 40 cats in most, 60 were freed and flung overboard before the ship continued on its way.
Now if you do the math and the reading, here's what you get: 240 stray or feral cats on a large island uninhabited by man. What happens next? Well, that's up to you.

General
[-] Use complete sentences, good grammar and spelling. If your not sure about a word, spell check it! [-] No sexist talk, or racist talk. Be polite to everyone. [-] No fighting in the c-box. Don't carry out any IC fights into OOC. If you must discuss it, take it to PMs. [-] Cursing is allowed IC and OOC, but don't abuse this. [-] Your signature must never stretch the page. If it does, you will be asked to take it down or resize it. [-] No talking back to staff. They are the law. [-] No power-playing or god-modding.
Characters
[-] Wait for a staff member to accept your character before role playing. [-] You may not create chicks. They'd just die from getting a chill. [-] You may have as many characters as you would like, just make sure they're all active. If a staff member catches someone not being active with all characters, he or she will ask you to kill it off, put it up fro adoption, or become more active. [-] Mutts are allowed, but please state it's lineage, and possibly the parent's lineage. [-] A picture is a must, whether it only describes the size and not the color, whatever, we just need a picture.
Posts
[-] All IC posts must be 150 words or more. *Hint* When posting, include what your character's feelings, thoughts, appearance, surroundings, past, etc. [-] Please indicate when you are going in and out of IC and OOC. Otherwise it gets confusing [ i.e. (ooc: blah blah) IC: blah blah ] [-] If you like to stylize your text when posting with character, make sure you use and color that doesn't burn people's eyes in large paragraphs. [-] All pictures must have a CC License, or be a stock image. If they are not one of those two, we will remove the image.
Fighting
[-] Roosters and hens may fight. Male teenagers may for dominance, and pullets, but that's it. If they challenge a rooster to leading rights, the teenager can try to fight, but he will be either killed, or severely injured, and will most likely die. Female teenagers may only fight for dominance. [-] There is no place special for a fight. It happens wherever. [-] Fights are judged off the bird's health, stats, experience, and role playing skills. [-] The form I use when judging[all points count for 5];
Code:
Quality - Neatness - Spelling and Grammar - Length of Post - Age and Stats - Total -
Claiming
[-] A hen doesn't have to go with a rooster if she doesn't want to, but if he forces her, she must go. [-] If a hen wants to be claimed, just put something like (claim?) in the title, so any roos looking for hens can strut in. To be claimed, hens can go anywhere. [-] A hen will only adopt a chick(s) if it's broody[ see the broody section for more info ].
Mating & Eggs
[-] No graphic breeding. [-] Roosters may mate with any hens that are behind the shed. If your hen's there, and there isn't a rooster to stop another one from breeding with the hen, well, he better not mind the babies being his. xD [-] A mating will last for a week. That means, that any eggs laid after the breeding will be fertile(up to a week) with that rooster as the father...okay, that sounds confusing. Let me put it this way...the hen will lay eggs continuously after breeding. The eggs she lays for a week after the breeding will be fertile with the father's DNA. [-] The eggs are considered fertile after the first breeding. [-] Force breeding = allowed. [-] A hen cannot stop laying her eggs, even if she doesn't want to have babies that are sired by a rooster that force-bred her. She cannot destroy them, either. [-] A thread is kept to keep track of all nests, the number of eggs, and if a hen is sitting on them. [-] Depending on the breed of your hen, it might have to lay daily. When she does, just PM/post on the thread which nest your hen laid on. [-] You are alowed to skip up to two days a week for laying. Anything after that you will be warned, unless you were gone.
Broody
[-] When joining, do realized some breeds have more of a chance to go broody than others. [-] When you want your hen to go broody, it must go to the hen-house. [-] The hen must choose what nest to sit on. Therefor, she must have eggs available to sit on. [-] Post that your ready. [-] According to your character's breed, I will do a chance thing. For example, Leghorns almost never go broody. So if you posted and asked me to have your hen go broody, I would give it a one in six chance to go broody.

` gallus-gallus « Result #11 on Aug 25, 2008, 7:49am »
so, your looking for information about chickens before you begin to join/rp? and you hate to do reasearch, and it's boring to read the stuff on the web? well. let's begin simple then...
the chicken's scientific name is gallus-gallus(the orginal jungle-fowl...the chickens on here are called gallus domesticus). and yes, i memorized it. anyways, chickens can have different uses. these are - but not limited to: ornamental, meat[ fryier, broiler ], egg-produceing. ornamental means that the bird is bred to do it's best in the show ring. and yet, any breed of chicken can be entered and win first place....i'm not saying that they can't. but, ornamental chickens most likely don't have alot of meat/weight, or lay well. these include the polish and pekins.

Species - Andalusian Varieties -
Single Comb Blue Single Comb White Single Comb Black
Egg - Medium to large, white shell Eye Color - Orange Weights - Cocks are around seven pounds, the hens are five and a half pounds. Cockerals are six, pullets are four and a half. Skin Color - White Use - Andalusians are fairly good egg producers, not to mention they do well in the show ring. Orgin - Spain Characteristics - Small, fairly active, andalusians are loud birds that are tight feathered when in good quality. Non-setters, andalusians also occur in bantam form, but are usually seen in standard. They are an example of the unstable blue color we tend to see in poultry, being a result of a black and white being mated. The resulting ratio would be one black, two blues, and one white. Andalusians were admitted to the standard in 1874. They are good-looking when bred properly, but rarely are there large flocks of these good-qualities; therefor, they are not widely bred and are never in very large numbers. Other pictures -x
